TOKYO (Reuters) – North Korea seems to have fired a ballistic missile, Japanese authorities mentioned early on Sunday, with nationwide broadcaster NHK reporting that two missiles might have been launched.

The incident would mark the seventh such launch by North Korea since Sept. 25, deepening concern in each Tokyo and Washington.

The projectile had already fallen, Japan’s coast guard mentioned in an announcement. Public broadcaster NHK mentioned it appeared to have landed outdoors Japan’s unique financial zone.

NHK later added {that a} second missile appeared to have been fired, citing defence ministry sources, though no additional data was instantly obtainable.

South Korea’s Yonhap Information Company reported that North Korea fired an unspecified ballistic missile towards the east coast, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Workers.
