Fossil gasoline firm Santos continues to spruik carbon seize and storage. And the expertise continues to fail.

Within the bizarro world of Kevin Gallagher, CEO of Australia’s worst local weather perpetrator Santos, the trail to a net-zero carbon world lies by way of rising fossil gasoline use — particularly oil and gasoline, which his firm produces — by pouring cash into opening new extraction websites for fossil fuels. And it means “decarbonisation, not defossilisation”.
Observe that phrase from Gallagher. He sees a shiny future for fossil fuels in a net-zero world. He desires “the decarbonisation tasks that can allow an orderly transition, somewhat than the chaos we’re seeing at present”.
That is company double-speak for carbon seize and storage (CCS), which Santos and different local weather culprits like Woodside are counting on to allow them to proceed to make billions from gasoline exports (whereas paying minimal tax).
