U.S., Russian defense chiefs speak by phone for first time since May

The U.S. and Russian protection chiefs spoke by phone on Friday for the primary time since Could, in line with a Pentagon spokesperson.

Protection Secretary Lloyd Austin and Russian Protection Minister Sergei Shoigu mentioned “worldwide safety issues, notably the state of affairs in Ukraine,” in line with a readout posted by the Russian Ministry of Protection on Telegram Friday morning.
